Ercole III Rinaldo d'Este (1727-1803)

  • Ercole III d'Este (1727-1803) Duke of Modena and Reggio from 1780 to 1796. Duke of Breisgau from 1797. Knight of the Golden Fleece. Chevalier du Saint-Esprit. Married Maria Teresa Cybo-Malaspina, Duchess of Massa, by which he annexed the Duchy of Massa and Carrara.

Franz Ferdinand (1863–1914)

  • Franz Ferdinand (1863–1914), Archduke of Austria-Este, Prince Imperial of Austria and Royal Prince of Hungary and of Bohemia, and from 1889, heir presumptive to the throne. His assassination provoked the start of World War I.
